About Tom Doescher

Tom has more than 40 years of senior leadership experience with Plante Moran, one of the nation’s largest and most well-respected accounting and business advisory firms. In the past 20 years, Tom founded and led the firm’s manufacturing and distribution practice, which became Plante Moran’s largest group. His work involved advising the owners and senior executives of privately owned, middle-market manufacturing businesses and distributors spanning several continents. Specialty areas of focus for Tom included wide-ranging business advisory services for automotive suppliers, metal formers, and other industrial companies. Within the firm, he was instrumental in establishing and building the government, global services, and corporate finance practices. Throughout his career, Tom has mentored firm partners and staff. Known for his high level of integrity, strategic vision, and laser-like focus, Tom’s passion for developing executives led to the establishment of Doescher Advisors.
Tom completed Harvard Business School’s “Leading a Professional Service Firm” executive program and studied at the Center for Creative Leadership in Greensboro, N.C. He received a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Western Michigan University. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Precision Metal Forming Association East Michigan District and the Advisory Board of Gingras Global. He is also active in the Original Equipment Suppliers Association where he spoke to the Young Leadership Council on Difficult Customer Conversations. His extensive cross-cultural experience includes participating in several humanitarian activities in Central and South America, Africa, Oceania and Asia.
